Contemporary sculpture – on a large scale – incorporated into the axes of vision (Blickachsen) in the Bad Homburg park landscapes.
Since 1997, the Kurpark and castle gardens have been transformed every two years into an open-air museum, which is free of charge. “Blickachsen” ranks among the very best open-air exhibitions in Germany and is internationally respected. This is due, on the one hand, to the artists – world-renowned sculptors and promising newcomers, and, on the other hand, to the concept designed by Bad Homburg gallery owner Christian Scheffel. The large-scale sculptures are positioned along the Blickachsen in the landscape to emphasize the historic layout of the park and, at the same time, to encourage new perspectives. By the same token, the surrounding greenery of nature highlights the artistic expression of the works. The public is encouraged to take its own very personal approach to interpreting the works. Ultimately, “Blickachsen” promotes new perspectives and insights.
