Born in 1999 and organized by the “Il Parnaso” Association, the Festival develops its program from April to October using some of the most representative locations in the city such as the Excelsior, a true architectural jewel and an ideal place to make music “in intimacy” as in a late nineteenth-century drawing room and the Tettuccio, a magnificent open-air stage that preserves intact the charm of the atmospheres that inspired the great composers of the past.
The festival has its own permanent orchestra which avails itself of the collaboration of internationally renowned artists, the Montecatini Opera Festival Orchestra, made up of already established musicians. The repertoire is wide, ranging from baroque to classicism, up to the most beautiful chamber music pages of the twentieth century, with particular attention to the popularization of Italian melodrama also through the rediscovery of unpublished scores.
The collaboration with the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation, the Arena of Verona and the Pistoiese Promusica Foundation is significant and prestigious. Also important is the collaboration with the Puccini Opera Association, the Lucchese Music Association, the Friends of Music of Montecatini Terme and also the latest born with Slow Food in the name of the close relationship between music and food, both extraordinary means meeting, sharing and knowledge.
